Tozama:
I popped in now and then to read the forum
but not lately.
It is sad to read this but as with most things in life people move on. I wish I
had the time to devote to CoC but just like so many of you my life has new priorities
and devoting the time to this game does not fit in.
UBG and the people I met through it I will always remember. Odd for a silly online
game with lousy graphics, bugs galore and a owner who didn't seem to care much when
it was dieing. Yet something developed within the regiments that I noticed early
on. The spirit of camaraderie among the players that seemed to be almost more important
than the game we played. This was shocking at first to me. I had played sports in
high school and have been on teams for various things afterward but never felt bonded
to them as a group after the season ended. I have not played CoC for years now.
Yet I still pop in to this forum now and then to see what’s happening and read the
dribble some of you write (LOL).
I guess for me that was what was important about UBG.
It grew on you. Although mostly this whole thing is virtual and not real (I only
ever met Allad in person) it seemed in some ways MORE real than some things in my
life.
I remember joining UBG after writing an email to MnM as a 2nd LT from MNR.
I remember all the characters we had then in the regiment.
I remember MnM yelling at us in battle through RogerWilco so loud my wife could
hear it through my headphones from 15 feet away LOL!
I remember how proud I was when we invented new and bold plans and totally outwitted
our enemies by not using the same worn out plans they used.
I remember how everyone followed orders in those days because you just knew the
rest of the team in there with you were counting on you to die completing your job.
I remember Mry, Lagmonster, Lags annoying son LOL!, Doc and so many others we fought
along side. d**n we had fun!
I said this long ago in the old old forum one day but it seems right to repeat it
now:
UBG had the perfect combination. The focus on the prize of being number one and
winning for the team and the regiment instead of personal stats and yet, we had
so much fun and had so many members (in the glory days) that you would log in to
2AM and see “UBG” all through the list on the left. You could find a game easy with
your comrades. You could get training if you wanted it. We had bar none the most
advanced planning, mapping and tactics program in CoC.
Some of you newer guys may not know this but:
UBG was first to use RogerWilco in battle
UBG was first to use MSN in battle and not 2AM chat
UBG invented “The West Field Rush” – yes we did this first!
UBG invented “The Gap Rush” (between BH and something, Christ its been too long
for me to recall) I still remember a guy in JFL accusing us of cheating because
no one ever timed that gap rush to see you could beat the Americans to that point
if you did it right.
UBG invented fixed Reg match teams with fixed assignments (aka plan A etc.) so the
team knew their assignments like clockwork through constant repetition.
I could go on even but UBG set the standards back then.
I was proud to be a member.
So I guess this is all just memories of a game many will forget with time but I
do miss you guys and I know I will always remember the good times we had on and
off the battlefield.
Fare well guys.
Toz.

Tassie:
After seeing these posts i really need to
leave something. Especially considering the great time i had with UBG. I mean who
could forget my first reg game where cannon fodder caught me standing behind store
rooms and mnm yelling it thousands of time that he was coming but i still died lol.
I mean MnM's words were sooo yelling at me it wasnt funny i could literally hear
him screaming at me and i was only reading the words lol. I eventually got used
to this lol and started having a blast. I joined UBG as a pfc cause i liked the
name i went through the list of regs and saw UBG and thought thats the best name
i want to join them. As time went by playing games with 2lts like BigAl, lag and
air zone and ncos like buff allad and tomanator something started to grow and the
way i watched all these guys play together as a team kept me coming back. As most
know i have gone out and come back but what brought me back was there was never
commraderie anywhere like there was here. There was never anyone in this reg that
held a chip on their shoulder about me... And i mean i really was a loose cannon
when i first started you can even ask Lag he'll vouch for it lol
The characters that filled this reg are what made it what it was. As some retired
more grew up and took control of things. From beginning to end UBG held the same
Ideals and its what will always live on in the memories of UBG. I just want to leave
a list of Ex UBG members so they will all be remember cause the members are what
made it was it was. If anyone is missed please add to the list.

DeniedAxcess:
I can still remember my first game too. Kegmon
was my roommate and told me about this game, told me that I should join UBG. So
I proceeded to find MnM in one of the rooms, and without even playing a game yet
I had asked him if I could join. It took me almost 2 days to convice MnM to let
me join because he thought I was a multi. After letting me join, I was priveleged
enough to play in an all UBG training game...MnM being on the other team. Turns
out that I really wasn't a multi, and MnM caught me stacked on a corner, and my
first game ended in about 2 seconds flat. He never accused me of being a multi again
after that. Took me about 2 weeks to make 2lt, maybe a little less. Within 2 months
I was a company CO, and within 5 months I was XO of the reg. I never really cared
much about being a commander, or an XO. I just liked playing the game with my friends.
We would stay up all hours of the night, playing over and over. In my career in
CoC I would say that the Goon Squad won about 90% of the games they played. We played
13 PO games one night against the
top ranked in CoC winning all 13 and boosting UBG to First place in the reg list.
After that we decided we couldn't take anymore, and decided we would just
do suicide plans to cool off from the stress. Our players had massive amounts of
blueprints of plans in their heads...and well, we basically decided to throw them
out the window this night. The game I remember most was using the infamous gap rush
between BH and SH (There ya go Toz). Tassie, NR, Pyra, Me, and I would say either
SuperHate, or RunningRebel all rushed through the gap to committ suicide to the
Germans. Just for fun. Didn't work out too well, we slaughtered them, Was almost
a perfect game, out of a suicide plan...That, if nothing else, shows the teamwork
that UBG had. Out of probably 10 suicide games that night we only lost 1. No reg
will ever be as good as UBG, and I really hope that there aren't regs out there
that think they can be, because it isn't gonna happen. EVER. Sad to see it go, it
may be a lost cause in Call of Combat, But it will always be remembered as a force
in Chain of Command, and that was UBGs' true home.

Alladinsane:
I can't add a whole lot that hasn't already
been said. Tozama really captured alot of my feelings on it.
Instead of just giving another rehash of great nights on the battlefield,(which
was not really the place I contributed well anyways) I would rather comment on the
people here. I am mostly going to c/p an excerpt from a post I made in the council
forum before jester finally decided to make his decision.
---------------------------------------
"UBG is/was led and populated by a large number of
extemely insightful and thoughtful people. By their nature, people like that extend
their boundaries and face issues in life that pull us into so many different pursuits.
Eventually these pursuits begin to grab us away from the games we play...they make
us money, they get us educated, they find us mates and partners etc. This is not
an ending, its a beginning and evidence of the growth of so many people here.
Every choice of a path we take eliminates the choice of a different path. I am so
proud that I know the people here and have gotten to watch everyone grow into the
persons they are. Look around...there are alot of people (who are populating and
power-playing in other regs) that have never grown; never changed. THAT is why all
of you rock! "
---------------------------------------
Thats how I have always felt in the matter and I stayed around in a game that I
never gave enough to be good at, not to be a wrecking ball in the stone house, but
for the people I met here.
It becomes so cliche' to call a reg a 'family' yet, thats another aspect that I
felt UBG truly did have over alot of the other formations. I remember MnM sending
some computer parts to a member or two, investing out of his own pocket into people
whose faces he would probably never see. I remember sitting up evenings on msn helping
a few people here doing research for homework projects; suggesting books to read;
places to visit; philosophies to explore; problems with parents to resolve.
We did not just invest in playing a game here; we invested
in our lives.
Now I see alot of people scattering into the wind of various regiments and that
is a good way to carry on and continue growing. For me, it is retirement though
I may reminisce into an open game a few times a year. Some of you will take this
spirit to those regs and you should, give them your all. Just try to never adopt
the battle cry of "HOOOAH" for any of those regs. Keep that one in your soul with
a single pleasant and peaceful memory attached to it.
=====================================
There is a saying:
"Old soldiers never die...they just fade away."
No matter how far we all fade to the winds, there will be an impression left. If
you look deep enough into the mud, you will see the waffled imprint from the sole
of a boot. Right in the middle of that watery impression will be the letters UBG...just
as proud at they always were. The sun will bake the ground, the winds will try to
erode. But the imprint will always be there. For that ground is the terra firma
of who you people are.
Wear it with pride...you are all soldiers.
*Salute'*

Buffking:
I have had a great many years with you guys.
I remember coming to UBG with Flame and meeting all the guys.... mnm freaking
me out.... everyone has a story like that.
Look at the names on that list. I am sure everyone has a story for most of
those names and remembers them. That is a huge list and we all know most of
those people. They are friends and teammates even family. You guys have
been a family to me and I thank you for that. I can never repay any of you
for the things you have brought me. The experiences we have shared and the
friendships we have made.
Thank you all for the great times
Good luck where ever you may go

I don't know the history, or many of you personally,
but from those i've played with that have gone of to separate AGs (well, except
for a couple of people... there are always one or two in the bunch, cant help it)
you guys are outstanding people first and foremost. I don't get along with most
people in the game (yes, shocking, i know) but i havent had a problem with any of
you. i respect all of you and hope you do well in future places, be it the game
or life in general.

Mikeb6:
Although our time was brief. It was fun. I
am guilty of abandonment as much as anyone. If and when a reasonable version comes
out or the old one is back with regs. I will be first in line to sign up for this
great crew.
Cheers Friends

Mi_go:
I dropped out long ago (couldn't get the game
to work on this system), but came by time and again to see how everyone was doing.
It is sad to see that UBG has finally faded into the night, I had GREAT times with
all here, taz, allad, tath, fish, k1w1, jester,DA, TD, , go-go,buff, etc etc
etc. Just to many to remember. Man looking at the list, I played with
so many of you on a daily basis.
This was the 1 and only online community i ever visited and actually cared about,
ie talked to people outside of the game. I remember shifting my work schedule
so that i could play with k1w1 and others from NewZealand during the original COC.
Good times and I will miss reading about what is happenign with you all
it has been a pleasure
thank you all for hte good times

VJM2185:
yes i will come back too with mikeb... its
really sad to see this reg fade... its like the end of CoC all over again... i cant
even say that it has faded... we are just taking a break right now... thats all...

Slimmage:
well the feelings I'm feeling have been eloquently
said by all, its a d**ned shame and thats all I'll say except to say that the elite
team in MnM's reign when we won that 1'st place(and we did earn it no matter what
anyone else said), were amazing players as well as embodying the team spirit that
UBG purveyed and there was one among them who stood above the crowd even more
,
joking aside I say three cheers for the greatest reg of chain of command for all
who served in her and for all who commanded her.
