UBG Commander's History
The men that
built this Army Group and carried on it's long and proud traditions
MrY - Founder of UBG
MrY was a no-nonsense commander who expected perfection of himself and
expected others to at least strive for the same. He struck fear into the hearts
of opposing forces and remains to this day as one of the best players of CoC.
Perfection did not erase his sense of camaraderie though. Games with MrY in
command would often be considered a cacophony of humor and team building. He
is the originator of this prestigious regiment and will always be known as the founder
of its legacy.
Long$hot - Second Commander of UBG
Long$hot was a very consistent and levelheaded player. He did
not play favorites and was always willing to give every member of the regiment a
shot to excel in with whatever contribution they could make. He strived to
be a leader that would be available for everyone in the regiment. Always concerned
for the community, Long$hot was very serious about making the game acceptable for
people of all ages. He did this especially with his strict rules concerning
foul language during game play.
MnM - Third Commander of UBG
MnM was more than just a Commanding Officer. He was also a father
figure to us all who was not afraid to give out ample does of 'tough love' when
it was necessary. A war strategist extraordinaire, MnM single-handedly changed
the way all West rushes were done by being the first to rush Big House corner.
UBG's 'elite' team was not composed of great players, but those who complied with
orders and were able to follow MnM's strategies. Many games were won with
MnM's innovative new strategies and MnM led the regiment to its first, first place
finish which was tainted by The Routemasters in the infamous "No Result" month.
MnM gave us pride that still exists to this day and is one of the legends of COC.
Buffking - Fourth Commander of UBG
Buffking was truly a great player
and an even nicer person who helped keep UBG together during a time of transition.
He stepped in and provided a rally point when some of the souls of UBG were beginning
to drift wayward. Coming out of the ranks, he gave a voice to the ranks and brought
back a sense of unity that had faded in the wake of MnM's retirement.
His tenure
will always be remembered fondly as the glue that kept the regiment together through
some of its toughest times.
MaverickMB - Fifth Commander of UBG
MaverickMB was the Commander of
Section 31 (X31) until it was disbanded. When UBG needed a new Commander, he was
more than qualified. Being a shrewd businessman, he took over the regiment and brought
the organizational principles of a large corporate structure into the regiment.
Accountability was a key word with MaverickMB and he asked the members of UBG to
be present and participate at all times. During the times of his leadership, UBG
continued its remarkable string of Top 5 finishes and solidified its place as one
of the best regiments in all of CoC. MaverickMB was a fierce debater and even fiercer
player who kept the regiment together through the demise of the 2AM parent company.
Denied Axcess - Sixth Commander of UBG
DeniedAxcess was an intellectual
heavyweight who brought new angles for approaching all problems that might be faced
during the transition between 2AM and the emergence of the new Call of Combat. To
call him smart would be as much of an understatement as to call Michael Jordan a
pretty good basketball player. He always had another good idea and a better solution
to nearly any problem. His contributions on and off the field of battle were invaluable.
Due to some family problems, he stepped down as the Commander of UBG and handed
the regiment down as previous Commanders had.
Jester - Seventh Commander
of UBG
He used his interest in military strategy, structure,
and organization to make UBG powerful in call of combat. When many other ag's were
floundering in this new version, Jester gathered the troops. He not only got old
ubg, but got new members as well. He organized the ubg site to concentrate on training
and a feeling of camaraderie. Jester had many pics to break down his plans, and
then asked for feedback to make the plans better. A sure sign of a true leader.
He recognized the potential in others. He promoted those that he new could do the
job. He also didn't just dump some members who were being troublesome, instead he
took them under his wing. Gave them some responsibility, talked with them many times,
and brought them along quite nicely. Unfortunately for us, but fortunately for Jester's
future goals, he had to go away for military training. We should be proud that we
have someone like Jester representing us in the military.
Beer - Eighth Commander of UBG
In October 2004 UBG was reformed and Beer, a player who played under
the original CO and founder, MrY is elected UBG's 8th Commander. A gifted
player and tough leader, he did a good job rebuilding UBG from the ashes. With
a new leader at the helm UBG's application was quickly accepted in the game Call
of Combat. With this, UBG became an official AG in Call of Combat and began
a new chapter in its long and proud history. Our first month of action ended
with UBG in second place, nearly taking first. Under Beer, UBG organized into
a fighting force that could trade blow for blow with the best Army Groups in the
game. With an enphasis on training, teamwork, and tradition UBG went on to
become one of the finest Army Groups in Call of Combat.
Melchiah
- Ninth Commander of UBG
Beer steps down for family reasons and passes the reigns of UBG to Melchiah,
a longtime UBG soldier. Melchiah continues the tradition of training and leads UBG
to it's first, first place finish in Call of Combat. With Melchiah at the helm UBG
organizes into a fighting force to be reconed with on the battlefield.
Beer - Commander of UBG
Beer reassumes command of UBG after Melchiah goes inactive. With
most of its members either moved on to other Army Groups or inactive due to busy
lives, Beer steps in to once again bring UBG back from the ashes. With a strong
focus on training, teamwork, and camaraderie UBG quickly turns around from being
the least active Army Group to the most active. Within three short months
UBG goes from last place to winning 1st place while playing the most number of games
any AG has ever played in a single month; a whopping 1,045 AG games. In August,
Beer once again steps down as his army unit is called to serve overseas in Iraq.
Pyro - Tenth Commander of UBG
Pyro continues the traditions of UBG handed down from commander to commander.
He was a real soldier's Soldier, always taking the time to help out a member no
matter how small the problem may have been. A master of recruiting, Pyro brought
in new players to the game and showed them the ropes. UBG continued taking
the fight to each and every Army Group in the game under Pyro; never backing down
from a good challenge.
Don. - Eleventh Commander of UBG
With the formation of three new Army Groups in Call of Combat, UBG began
to decline as many of its most skilled players left to join the newer Army Groups.
In steps Don, leading the charge and call to arms. Don sets his goal to reorganize
and rebuild UBG in it's great tradition. With a strong recruiter and dedicated
UBGer-for-life like Don at the helm UBG is in good hands as it begins a new chapter.
